Erik Dahlager's  -  15 Mondays

When local fashion designer and dressmaker, Bill Colvard first saw Dahlager's unique portrait style, he knew they had to collaborate. Bill and Erik are offering 15 Monday afternoon sessions at Colvard's design studio on Main Street in Elkin, NC, this year and are seeking as their subjects people, men or women, who are looking for something a little different than your average portrait.

Colvard, an Elkin native, and Dahlager met a year ago through the Foothills Arts Council where Colvard is Program Coordinator and Dahlager is a board member. Each became instant fans of the other's work... Bill a Fashion Institute of Technology graduate and successful New York City designer and Erik an accomplished fine art photographer and artist. Both have a desire to see the arts thrive in the region and want to find ways to include the community in some fun creative arts activities.

"Elkin seems to be in a sort of creative renaissance from the growth of the wine industry to the emergence of new artists in addition to its already strong arts and crafts base" said Dahlager.

Clients are able to bring a friend or spouse to a two-hour photo session which would include the opportunity to "play dress up" in some of Colvard's exquisite gowns, a stylist to help with poses, makeup and the end product of two 11 x 14 gum oil prints and a proof sheet used for making future prints. A sampling of Yadkin Valley wines will be on hand to create a relaxing and fun afternoon for the models.
